Analysis of effects of drying parameters in rotary cylinder dryer on cut tobacco quality based on uniform design
In order to study the effect of technical parameters of drying cylinder on cut tobacco quality, the effects of steam flow of HT, cylinder wall’s temperature, hot air temperature, opening of wet air exhaust valve and rotational velocity of cylinder on cut tobacco quality were investigated with uniform design experiment. The results showed that: 1) rotational velocity of cylinder affected significantly the physical indexes of cut tobacco only; opening of exhaust valve and steam flow of HT showed same effect trends on the physical indexes and sensory quality of cut tobacco; the temperatures of cylinder wall and hot air significantly affected the physical indexes and sensory quality of cut tobacco, but with opposite trends; 2) within the tested range, the following parameter combination was preferable: wall temperature 130 °C, hot air temperature 90 °C, opening of wet air exhaust valve 59%, frequency cylinder motor 24 Hz, steam flow of HT 240 kg/h. The filling value of dried tobacco increased by 0.18 cm3/g, the proportion of long strands raised by 1.6%, the sensory quality scores increased by 1.8 points, while the proportion of short strands decreased by 0.7%.
