Automatic head for measuring the air permeability of paper

BUISSON J.
The increasing importance of the air permeability of cigarette papers, tipping and plugwrap papers has lead CERTTA to devise an automatic head for measuring this characteristic. This precise, self-contained apparatus is easy to operate and adaptable to any system of measurement. It can be fitted with a large variety of heads of varying forms and cross sections to meet the majority of the measurement problems encountered in practice. The author describes the trials for perfecting these heads, demonstrating their perfect alignment one with another. Connected with this automatic head, a new measuring apparatus now under study should make it easier to assess under best conditions the air permeability of papers, which is a basic standard for cigarette manufacturers.
