The study of global peroxidase activity and isozymic pattern which is characteristic of different stages of plant development allows to understand the ontogenic acceleration of tobaccos at the cotyledon stage when fed with a solution of magnesium and treated or not treated with chloroethylphosphonic acid. This premature ageing is responsible for the fact that certain genes are expressed in the same way in juvenile as in adult plants.
