Design of cigarette blend based on analysis of volatile components in tobacco leaf
In order to improve cigarette quality, the volatile components in tobacco leaves of different varieties, grades, growing years and areas and cut tobacco of 3 modules making up blend A of Honghe brand series were analyzed with GC/MS. Based on the analysis results and desired product style and quality, the 3 modules were separately optimized, and the cigarette blend was modified. The results showed that: 1) in the original cigarette blend, modules of cut tobacco and tobacco leaf, the volatile components showed a uniform distribution trend in general, and the main volatile components were ketones, acids, alcohols, esters and alkenes; 2) the difference of volatile component content between tobacco leaves from different stalk positions, growing year, varieties and grades was obvious; 3) comparing with the original blend, the content of main aromatic components in the modified cigarette blend increased obviously, especially the content of ketones and alcohols raised by more than 10%, while that of aldehydes decreased by 9.21%; the results of sensory evaluation indicated that the quality of cigarette was improved and product style was as desired.
