Determination of chlorine in organic fertilizer with continuous flow analytical method

In order to determine the chlorine in organic fertilizer rapidly, the sample preparation conditions, recovery and precision of continuous flow analysis method for determining chlorine in organic fertilizer for tobacco were tested. The determined value by the method was compared with that determined by silver nitrate titration. The results indicated that: 1) The optimum preparation conditions were that 0.3 g of sample was extracted with 50 mL deionized water for 60 minutes under shaking. 2) The average recovery of chlorine ranged from 100.7% to 103.0% with the relative standard deviation from 0.31% to 5.40%. 3) There was no significant difference between the results determined by the method and silver nitrate titration.
