Determination of indogenous and leachable metals by ICPMS

There is a need for measurement of low levels of both indogenous and leachable elements when evaluating electronic cigarette matrices. A method was developed and validated to accurately quantitate these analytes. The electronic cigarettes are smoked on a Cerulan 450e Linear Smoking machine and the aerosol is trapped in impingers containing nitric acid/purified water. The samples are analyzed on a Perkin Elmer 300 S ICPMS using normal mode, reaction mode and collision mode to ensure any interferences are removed. The method validation results will be presented.
