Field experiments were conducted in 1986 at Samsun on a farmer's field to determine the effect of calcium ammonium nitrate, superphosphate and potassium sulphate on yield and some chemical constituents of tobacco leaves. Tobacco cv. Basma was given 30, 60 or 90 kg N, 30 or 60 kg P2O5, and 40 or 80 kg K2O per ha. The control received no fertilizer. Increasing fertilizer rate increased yield from 1,109 to 1,755 kg/ha. Effect of nitrogen level on yield was highly significant. P and K fertilizers had no significant effect on yield. Chemical composition of leaves has also been determined.
