In order to exploit new resource of natural tobacco flavor, ground Rhizoma imperatae was extracted with ethanol-water mixture in a still for three hours, then filtered and concentrated, and a concentrate was obtained. The average yield of the concentrate was about 17.7%. The concentrate was applied in cigarettes as casing. The sensory test results of the cased cigarettes showed that the concentrate could significantly reduce harshness and offensive odor and improve taste. The preferred applied amount of the concentrate was about 0.015% to 0.02%.
