Silos are sometimes utilised as a means to"blend out"errors or variations in moisture content that have occured in the primary plant. Because the tobacco is mixed on discharge, any moisture errors remaining cannot be detected. This paper discusses experiments that have been carried out at Legg Ltd. to determine the rate of moisture migration when tobacco of differing moisture content is layered together.
