Participation of micro-organisms in the fermentation of dark tobacco submitted to a"pre-storage-thermic-treatment-storage"type of process

DUMERY B.; ALBO J.P.
The multiplication of the micro-organic population during fermentation of dark tobacco in permanent wrappings coincides with the most intense phase of chemical transformation. The micro-organisms concerned are essentially bacteria of the Bacillus genus, among which several species were identified. Simultaneous observation of the evolution of the bacterial population and of the rhythm of chemical transformations suggests that tobacco fermentation essentially takes place during the first four months of treatment.
