In order to improve the utilization of irrigation water, the broad ridge capable for planting tow rows of tobacco was adopted according to the nature of tobacco cultivation. An irrigation groove extended lengthwise between the two rows and covered with film. The results showed that the film covered groove was beneficial not only to rainwater collecting and irrigation, but also to reducing water evaporation from soil. The irrigation water was only 50.4% comparing with conventional irrigation, the water utilization efficiency increased greatly. Meanwhile, tobacco leaf yield and production value were significantly increased, the contents of nicotine and total nitrogen somewhat decreased, potassium content raised, and chemistry of tobacco was more harmonious.
