* The Congress will begin on the evening of Monday, 22 October, and end on the evening of Friday, 26 October.

The theme of the 2018 Congress is “Science & Innovation: addressing the needs”:

Addressing the needs of the industry’s many stakeholders is critical to having a sustainable tobacco sector. The needs are as diverse as are the stakeholders; whether it is the tobacco farmer growing a disease resistant variety; a leaf supplier reducing its global environmental footprint; or a manufacturer developing a new regulatory compliant product – science and innovation are the key tools for success.

The emergence of new and innovative products and technologies creates opportunities for advancements in product characterisation methodologies and risk assessment approaches. Scientific evidence must be the basis for product regulation and standards development through international collaboration and open exchange of knowledge.

The Scientific Commission views the forthcoming Congress as an opportunity for delegates to share their experience with the broad scientific community, within and outside of the sole tobacco point of view. This approach will provide valuable information to all stakeholders in our rapidly changing environment. Strongly themed sessions and workshops will be arranged to foster open communication and a learning environment. Presenters are encouraged to place their work in the broad context of potential regulatory requirements affecting both conventional and emerging products.

In view of preparing the Congress programme, CORESTA looks forward to presenters taking this overall theme into consideration when submitting abstracts.

Abstract submission closed (extended deadline was Wednesday, 23 May 2018)
