TF HTP - Heated Tobacco Products
The interest in new nicotine delivery products has seen a large increase over the last decade. Recently, among these products, those using heated tobacco technologies have come to the forefront of discussions within the scientific, health and regulatory communities. Studies have been published, but there are still different scientific opinions, based on different approaches. Therefore, further work needs to be conducted to provide better understanding of all issues, and robust data produced to assist in making science-based decisions in terms of devices, components and product use patterns.
This is why CORESTA, capitalising on its over 60 years of global scientific and collaborative expertise in analytical work and measurement method development, is launching a dedicated working group named the Heated Tobacco Products (HTP) Task Force. As a result of a workshop held in Paris on 26 March 2019, where over 50 attendees provided input, the following objectives for the HTP Task Force were defined:
- Establish standardized terminology and definitions that encompass all categories of Heated Tobacco Products.
- Define one or more specific approaches and regimes for the generation and collection of emissions for Heated Tobacco Products.
- Define and agree on priority compounds to be analysed (or not); review current CRM suitability, edit, or develop methods for Heated Tobacco Products.
