After elementary consideration on seven kinds of tobacco varieties (adaptation), the varieties C176, NC89 and K394 were selected , and the varieties T30 and C347 (check variety) were compared with 5 treatments in 4 replications in a randomized complete block design. The characteristics of varieties in comparison with the control variety (C347) are summarized as follows:1-The number of leaves on the stalk of C176, with 32 leaves, was higher than that of other varieties.2-The leaves of C176 were the longest (61 cm) and those of T30 the widest (31 cm).3-The yield of C176 (3328 kg/ha) was higher, and C347 (check variety) with 2728 kg/ha was lower than those of the other varieties.4-All the varieties had moderate resistance to Peronospora tabacina . 5-The flowering dates of all varieties were similar to those of the check variety 6-Value per kg and value per ha for C176 were the highest obtained in the trial.
