Great importance was attached to smoking safety in design and technology of the blend. Combustion accelerating agents were applied to upgrade the burning degree, raise the burning temperature and accelerate the speed of combustion. Catalyst was used to speed up the splitting decomposition of organic compounds and reduce the production of dry distillation. Tar-reducing filters, expanded tobacco were used, and the technology of the best air permeability of cigarette paper, pressure drop of filter rod and expanded techniques were applied. The tar was controlled at the level of below 12mg/cig. through the physical and chemical methods. Attention was paid to free radicals existing in tobacco smoke and highly effective captive agent was added. The delivery of free radicals was reduced 40%. Several compounds of trace elements, such as selenium, which is beneficial to human body, were added in cut tobacco. The amount of trace elements in mainstream smoke was detected and the results showed that the amount of trace elements in mainstream smoke could be increased.
