In the experiments conducted on large surface areas of 0.25 ha per replication plot and in 4 replications, it has been found that by soil treating with granular insecticides, Furadan 10 G, 10 kg/ha and Sinoratox 5 G, 20 kg/ha, the attack of tomato spotted wilt virus was reduced from 32% to 1.7 and 3.9% respectively. In the variants treated with granular insecticides and sprayed with Carbetox 37 EC, the percentage of infected plants was reduced up to 0.6-0.9%, while in that sprayed 4 times with Carbetox 4.2-4.5% diseased plants were recorded. The tobacco plants planted in the field were free of tomato spotted wilt virus, the soil in seed beds being treated with Furadan and the seedlings sprayed weekly with Carbetox.
