The amount of tobacco in cigarettes and of filtertow in filter rods have a direct effect on the smoking performance of the assembled cigarette and are a principal measure for the quality control of cigarette manufacture. The same applies to the use of heated tobacco products (HTPs). This guideline is intended as a reference for manufacturers of cigarettes and cigarette filter rods as to the best practice for weighing, so as to obtain consistently the most accurate and most reliable measurements despite the many external influences that can affect the measured value.
