No. 65 - Determination of Total and Nicotine-Free Dry Particulate Matter using a Routine Analytical Cigar-Smoking Machine – Determination of Total Particulate Matter and Preparation for Water and Nicotine Measurements

June 2010 - fourth edition

This Recommended Method is applicable to the determination of total particulate matter and for the subsequent determination of nicotine-free dry particulate matter present in the mainstream smoke from cigars, generated and collected using a routine analytical smoking machine.

The purpose of Method Nº 65 is to allow comparisons to be made between different types of cigars by using a strictly controlled set of smoking parameters. As such, Method Nº 65 is to be considered as a technical convention, which does not intend to reflect human smoking behaviour.
